How to Setup MS O365 MFA With QR Code Setup

Background: 

 

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is a multi-step account login process that requires users to enter more information than just a password. For example, along with the password, users might be asked to enter a code sent to their SMS, email, answer a secret question or scan a fingerprint and authenticator apps. It gives an extra layer of security to your account.

 

How to enable your MS O365 email MFA?

IMPORTANT: We encourage and HIGHLY recommend all users MUST USE/SELECT “AUTHENTICATOR APP”

  1. Open any web browser (Edge, Chrome, Firefox, Safari…etc) and login to your corporate/company/work email.

  • Click sign in

 

 

  

 

 

  1. After login, on the upper right of your web page you will see a circle icon with the first letter of your first name and last name inside.

 

  • Click that and go to View Account


  1. Click the following 
  2. Security info
  3. Add sign-in method
  4. Select “Authenticator App
  5. ADD

 

Click “Download Now”

It will open a new tab and select your phone OS platform (Android or IOS).Using your phone camera, scan the QRCode and a pop up to your screen or automatically open/redirect you to Play Store (for Android Users) and  App Store (IOS Users). Install the apps and allow give permission to install the authenticator apps.

 

 

Open the newly installed authenticator app on your phone.

  • Click the plus (+) sign

 

  • Add account, select “Work or school account”

 

 

  • Type your email and click next

 

  • Type your password and click next

 

  • Click “Finish” 

 

  

  • You will see your email successfully added as shown below picture.

Use this code to login to your for verification

 

When you login and ask to put One Time Password (OTP) Code for authentication. Just put the 6 digits code you will see on your Authenticator App from your phone.

NOTE: The OTP code will always generate NEW OTP CODE (Randomly) every 30 seconds.
